Talking about money and budgets isn't the most fabulous aspect of wedding prep but it is absolutely necessary. Today I want to talk about the plus/plus rate (+/+) stands for plus tax/ plus service charge.
So say the price is $100 a plate your quote would look like this: Dinner $100 +/+.
The plus/plus rate can vary per location but for the sake of simple math lets say that sales tax is 8% and the service charge is 22%.So the quote reads $100 ++ but in reality your price is $100 + 8% + 22% that equals $130.
Now your $100 per plate is $130 or for a wedding of 100 people that is an additional $3000 - for a wedding of 300 that is $9000. Many vendors don't volunteer their plus/plus rate in their sales literature. This number doesn't usually show up until contract time. Be sure to ask each vendor during your interview their rates so you can make informed decisions.
